New commuting headlight Like computers headlights have improved by leaps and bounds the last few years. This past summer I sold my old Cygo-Lite light on eBay and used the proceeds to go towards a new NiteNider MiNewt cordless. It has 50 more lumen output, the weighs about 2 pound less, no water bottle batter or wires, charges in 1/2 the time and I can changer from my PC at work via USB too. All this for under $100 which is what I paid for the Cygo-Lite Nitro XM 4 years ago).
If yours headlight is more than 3 years old treat your self to one of the new models on the market and enjoy a few extra hours of riding.
Old Tips of the month
| Title | Description | Author | | Change those cleats | Before the season is fully underway now is the time to install a new pair of cleats on your shoes. It will give your body time to adapt to any small changes before your season is full swing.
| Wallace Wormley | | Start Slow | The start of the season is right around the corner and even if you have been training indoors you need to start your outdoor season slow. Don't over do things until you have a good base of several hundred miles. | Wallace Wormley | | Use a training Diary | A training diary that you keep routes, miles, time, avg speed, and more. It's a simple but effective tool that allows you to track and monitor your progress. I use a great pc diary called CROSSTRAK. | Wallace Wormley | | Change those handlebars | With today's ultra lightweight aluminum handlebars you should replace them every 2 to 3 years (it also depends on your weight, riding style and mileage) Always replace your handlebars if they have been bent or scratched from an impact or crash. | Wallace Wormley | | Winter Training | Buy cheap wire bead tires and put them on your wheels when training indoors. Trainers and rollers wear tires out quickly so don't waste money on expensive tires. Remember to buy slick tires to make the ride nice and quite. | Wallace Wormley | | Be Safe and Be Seen | To prevent an accident make yourself more visible to motorists, pedestrians and other cyclists. To gain greater visibility, wear light or reflective clothing during dawn/dusk and use a reflective strobe light. | Wallace Wormley | Select a Page
